The 2025 Star Wars Celebration has brought with it a series of artbook related news and reveals, including this exciting new and much requested announcement, The Art of Star Wars: Andor.
It was only recently that I posted an article with an update on the upcoming artbook for The Acolyte and highlighted that there hasn’t been any Star Wars artbooks since The Mandalorian Season 2. Now though, there is some good news as Andor is finally getting the artbook treatment too. It will cover both seasons of the show, which means the art for the first season is indeed coming, it just took a lot longer than usual. The current release is set for March 2026, so there is still some time to go. It will also be priced at $50.

Like the many other Star Wars ‘Art of’ books, it will feature a wealth of concepts and early designs for the characters, planets, ships, weapons, storyboards and more. As expected, it will also have insights from the creative team and is authored by Phil Szostak, long time writer on the series from Abrams Books. As is also the norm for the books, it will come as a hardcover and no doubt a dust jacket too.
The series premiered on Disney+ in September 2022 and serves as a two-season prequel to the fan favourite movie, Rogue One: A Star Wars Story. Like that movie, Andor is a huge hit among fans and will conclude in the second season, which is coming April 22nd.
Star Wars artbooks have been going for a long time, dating back to The Art of Star Wars from 1979. That has continued with a huge amount of releases since for the movies, shows, animations, comics, video games and more. It’s easy to argue that Star Wars has one of the highest quality catalogues in artbooks, with some of the greatest artists and variety of projects around. From legendary Ralph McQuarrie to Doug Chiang and Ryan Church, the talent that has worked on the universe is beyond impressive.
In recent years, there have been gaps in releases however. Although artbooks for the games and animations are still coming, there are multiple shows missing an artbook, including The Mandalorian Season 3 and Ashoka. Perhaps with the release of The Art of Star Wars: Andor, there is a chance that these will be revisited in the future. Unfortunately, I don’t hold out much hope for an artbook for The Book of Boba Fett.

This book comes as part of a series of announcements from the last week, more of which you can find reported on this website; The Art of Star Wars: The Acolyte cover reveal and release update here. Doug Chiang - The Cinematic Legacy & The Star Wars Legacy revealed here. Dark Horse are headed to Kickstarter for The Art of Star Wars: A New Hope – The Manga from Hisao Tamaki here.
When more details of the book are revealed, it will be reported here.
