Though only announced last month for release in September, The Art of Rust has been pushed back a couple of weeks.

The book was revealed on March 7th, as reported here, with a release date of September 9th. This was a surprise announcement as it has been 7 years since the official launch of Rust in 2018. Now though, the book has been moved to September 23rd, a change spotted when checking for updates on date changes from the publisher Dark Horse.

This is not unusual, Dark Horse has previously delayed artbooks shortly after being announced, even when they are many months away. The Art of S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chornobyl is one such book, as it was announced last September for release in May, but not long after was delayed to June. It's third delay came in December and pushed it to November. Other examples this has happened to include the upcoming The Art of Star Wars Outlaws and the now released books, The Art of Returnal and The Art of Dead Space. The books when they do arrive though are always of great quality.

No reason is ever given and only noticed if you check the releases yourself or get a notification from a retailer you have placed a pre-order with. It is odd to delay them so far out and again raises the question, why announce them so early if they are consistently pushed? A delay is only a delay because they are public. Whatever the reason, there has seemingly been no course correction to address frequent delays, which isn't unique to Dark Horse, but applies to artbooks in general. This book has fortunately only been moved back two weeks, but may not be the last time.

The Art of Rust is set to feature a look at the art behind the world, wildlife and costumes of the multiplayer survival shooter. It will give players old and new a glimpse behind the curtain at how Rust came together with the help of the artists involved. The still popular game was developed by Facepunch Studios and Double Eleven and a sequel is also in the works.

Future updates will be reported here and the book will be joining the collection too, so when it does arrive, expect previews and a review as well.
