The upcoming artbook for Judge Dredd from artist Mark Simpson, known by most as Jock, has been pushed out, but the new date is now unclear.
The Art of Judge Dredd by Jock was revealed in January by Rebellion Publishing for release this year. It will take a look at the art from the renowned comic book artist for the character and the world of Mega-City One from the 2000 AD series, as well as including art from the 2012 movie, Dredd.
The book was set to be available on May 8th, but this has now been changed, with a delay putting it at least 2 months later, depending on where you are from. On UK websites, including Amazon, Waterstones and WH Smith, the book is listed as coming July 31st. However, American sites, which again includes Amazon, but also others like Barnes & Noble, have now changed the release to September 30th. The date on Amazon sites for other European countries also differs depending on which one you visit.

When this change happened is unclear and was only noticed when checking for date changes of upcoming artbooks. The two release dates are odd though, as prior to the delay, they were the same in both the US, UK and the rest of Europe. While different publication dates aren't uncommon, the large two month gap is, which may indicate that more changes are to come. Historically though, it has always been the more recent date that gets moved back to match the larger delay, which will be bad news for fans looking forward to the book.
The Art of Judge Dredd by Jock will feature early sketches and layouts through to the final versions of the art from Jock for the series, offering readers a chance to see his process. This will fit in perfectly alongside the comics and offer insights into how they come to fruition. Concept art for the Dredd movie will also be put into the spotlight, giving Jock's talent the opportunity to shine across a variety of projects for the character.
Future updates for the book will be reported here, as well as previews and a review when it arrives. Those interested in buying a copy can do so here;
