A new upcoming book featuring artwork and insights from movie industry veteran Dylan Cole will be available later this year. The book is coming by way of publisher Insight Editions and will showcase the incredible art of Cole for multiple movies, including previously unseen pieces.
Creating Worlds: The Disney and 20th Century Studios Cinematic Art of Dylan Cole will come as a hardcover book and is set for release on October 7th. It is described as featuring concept art, matte paintings and poster designs, highlighting Cole's talent in multiple disciplines within his role as an artist. Confirmed for the book so far will be artwork for Avatar, Avatar: The Way of Water, Alita: Battle Angel, Oz: The Great and Powerful, Tron: Legacy and Maleficent.

Also highlighted in the book will be his creative process, giving insights into how the art comes together. On top of this, readers can expect to find stories and commentary behind artwork too, so this book will be more than just a gallery of art.
Dylan Cole has been creating art in the industry for over 20 years and has worked on huge Hollywood blockbusters. As well as the previously mentioned movies that will be featured in the upcoming artbook, he has also worked on The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King as the as the Senior Matte Painter, Transformers: Dark of the Moon, Alice in Wonderland, Superman Returns and more. His work most recently has been on the Avatar movies, taking on the big role of being responsible for designing the world of Pandora, with fellow production designer Ben Proctor. This includes the wildlife, vegetation, landscapes and culture of its world. His work continues on Avatar with the upcoming sequel, Fire and Ash.

Dylan Cole's artwork speaks for itself, his work includes such amazing detail and world building, you'd be forgiven for mistaking many of his pieces for movie stills. It's not often that an upcoming release uses concept art as an early marketing tool, most begin with a photo, a title reveal or even just the trailer. However, in the case of the upcoming Avatar sequel, concept art like the one displayed above was showcased online, a testament to the both the quality of the art, but also the respect the studio has for the work the team does.
You can follow Dylan online and find his art using the details below. I highly recommend taking a look, there's a good chance you'll add this book to your wishlist once you do! X - @DylanColeArt Instagram - dylancoleart Website - https://dylancolestudio.com
